MCA MUSIC ARTISTS BAG MYX MUSIC AWARDS

Chicosci
Two of MCA Music’s major domestic artists went home victorious at the recent MYX Music Awards held recently at the Music Museum.

Rock band Chicosci’s new single “Unbelievable” was voted by a combination of MYX viewers and artists as “Favorite Remake”.  The song is a cover of the EMF original which is included in the compilation album “90s Music Comes Alive” under MCA Music. Its music video was directed by Paolo Ruiz and Tower of Doom and was supported by Samsung Galaxy S Wifi 5.0. “Unbelievable” easily made it at MYX charts just days after its premiere last year. The band is currently finishing their new album under MCA Music.

“We are so thankful for those who voted four our music video which was quite different from what we usually do like doing a cover and shooting a video during one of our tours,” Miggy said.
SomeDay Dream

Another winner was electronic-pop sensation Somedaydream who bagged the “Favorite MYX Celebirty VJ”. Since debuting at last year’s MYX Music Awards, so many good things came along for this talented Ateneo student which also led him to a MYX Celebrity VJ stint in June 2011.  His album is still out under Mecca Music and MCA Music which includes the hit singles “Hey Daydreamer”, “Delivery Boys” and “Sing This Song”.

“I was just there last year to perform and now I won an award! It’s unbelievable and I’m so happy that MYX is always there to support,” Somedaydream said.

Since 2006, MYX, the number 1 music channel in the Philippines honors the biggest hitmakers in the Philippines via the MYX Music Awards.

Madonna most involved for her 12th studio album “MDNA”

If listeners find all the earmarks and trademarks of Madonna in her latest album, that’s a testament to her deep involvement to the process of creating the package, her twelfth and first outside her old label. The powerplay of maturity and a new beginning she's now embarking on makes this one another turning point to her career strengthened by ingenuity and artistic adventure.

While the album title, “MDNA,” is a mere abbreviation of the Mother of Invention’s  world-famous name (as suggested by collaborator M.I.A), its accidental meaning, being Madonna’s DNA, actually defines the finished product as her imprint as one of the world’s most successful artists of all time can be heard all over the collection.

The 12-track album, to be released this March 26, is led by the cool single “Give Me All Your Luvin” featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. By now the track has spread via limited privilege as provided by iTunes --- in the process only hastening the interest and anticipation for the Queen of Pop’s album since 2008.

Her recent Super Bowl appearance seemed to have rubbed on to this engaging track as its official music video has football and cheerleading as main themes.

A second collaboration between Madonna and Minaj comes in the form of the song “I Don’t Give A.”

Album producer Martin Solveig pointed out in an interview, "Madonna is as involved as you can be in the recording process. We literally co-produced the tracks. I mean, at some point she wanted to choose the sound of a snare drum or a synth and that kind of stuff. She was really in the session!"

One other track of high interest prior to the formal physical CD release is “Masterpiece” which bagged the Golden Globe Award for Original Song in the last edition of the Awards.

Recorded in New York and LA, “MDNA” had Madonna reworking with ex-collaborator William Orbit (who worked on “Ray of Light”). The latter co-wrote and co-produced several cuts for the new album.

Other numbers in the album are “Girl Gone Wild,” “Gang Bang,” “I’m Addicted,” “Turn Up the Radio,” “Some Girls,” “Superstar,” “Love Spent,” “I’m A Sinner” and “Falling Free.”

Madonna’s “MDNA” is soon to be out under MCA Music in CDs at leading record bars nationwide or online via mymusicstore.com.ph.
