Former Westlife Frontman Shane Filan In Manila

It's been a year since Westlife made the final bow in their Goodbye Tour in 2012. We may not going to hear them perform as a group but former Westlife front man is now on his own. His first solo album, You and Me will come out in November.

For now, he will be on tour across Southeast Asia and making his first stop here in the Philippines. Shane felt overwhelm with the solo career. He still in good friends with the rest of his former boy band members and showed their support.

Even though he is Irish, he is more comfortable with western music. His type of music differs from his Westlife image. It is more like pop music. His music influences are Michael Jackson, Bryan Adams and |Garth Brooks.

Shane is still adjusting to his solo career and he admits he still needs to get used to it but since he needs to work and he is always focused on music, he gave it a shot and will see where it will take him.

About his songs, Shane said these are his mini-stories about his life. His song, Everything To Me is about his wife and family. He simply said that they are everything to him. Second to that are his fans. He was still overwhelmed about the reception of Westlife fans who supported him in this tour that they will be given a chance to see him perform the SkyDome, SM City North EDSA on the 28th at 6PM and The Podium the next day at 4PM.

You can get your passes by getting either the VIP Bundle or Gold Bundle at participating Astrovision/Astroplus branches(Mall Of Asia, Glorietta, Megamall, The Podium, The Block and SM North EDSA main.

Marion Aunor Album Launch

Marion Aunor may be related to the country’s own superstar, but she didn’t take advantage of the name as when she entered her original song “Do, Do, Do” at Himig Handog where she was recognized. Now, she released her self-titled debut album.

It includes her original songs (Fallen and Do, do, do) as well as her rendition to favorites (Just Give Me A Reason by Pink). After watching and hearing her songs continuously, I finally got to see her perform selective songs at A-Venue in Makati.

The Album has total tracks of 12. What makes her music unique is her Blues inspired tunes. Her inspiration was drawn from the likes of Jason Mraz and Norah Jones.

from The Beatles’ 1963-1964 BBC Radio Broadcasts

(New York, NY – September 16, 2013) Ten years ago today, on September 16th, 2003, four young men from Las Vegas left America for the first time to play their first ever London show, appearing fourth on the bill at Camden’s Dublin Castle. It was the first time they had played a gig outside of North America.

Fast forward to 2013, that band – The Killers – has gone on to sell over 20 million albums worldwide, headlined festivals across the globe, performed at The White House, and picked up myriad awards. Each of The Killers’ four studio albums has yielded some of the most amazing songs of the last decade, and, this summer, amidst various festival headlining shows all over the world, they reached a summit very few artists have ever managed:  headlining Wembley Stadium to an ecstatic capacity crowd of 70,000. These shows – from their masterful showing headlining this year’s Lollapalooza to their crowning achievement commanding the stage at Wembley – reaffirmed what millions everywhere already know:  The Killers have released some of the finest, most memorable, most loved songs of the last ten years, and they’re still going strong.

In celebration of their first decade together, The Killers will release Direct Hits on November 11th, 2013 under MCA Music (Universal Music Philippines).  A collection of singles from their four albums, plus two brand new songs, the album begins with the band’s breakthrough hit - and first song they wrote together – “Mr. Brightside.” It follows the group from debut album Hot Fuss and its further singles, “Somebody Told Me,” “Smile Like You Mean It,” and “All These Things That I’ve Done,” through Sam’s Town’s “When You Were Young,” “Read My Mind,” and “For Reasons Unknown,” via Day & Age’s singles, including massive 2008 hit, “Human,” and last year’s stunning Battle Born album singles, kicking off with “Runaways.”  A brace of brand new songs completes the set:  “Shot At The Night” was recorded with M83’s Anthony Gonzales, and will be released as a single on September 17th via iTunes (Listen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Leo22AXLEXg). The video for the song was directed by Robert Schober and was shot entirely in Las Vegas.  “Just Another Girl,” meanwhile, was produced by long time Killers collaborator Stuart Price, who produced 2008’s Day & Age.

Soomin and Crispy Crunch Media Conference

K-Pop music has large influence on Pinoys especially for those who watched Tagalog dubbed Korean TV series and it's not just because of PSY. Recently, there was a K-Pop concert held here in Metro Manila and I got to see three of the Korean performers.

Soomin belonged to a Korean pop group April Kiss. Crispy Crunch said they are a electronic hiphop duo. Unfortunately, there was no translator around but one of the Crispy Crunch can speak English. They enjoyed the Filipino audience and they had the chance to meet R&B singer Nina whom they described as a beautiful voice.

They are not limiting themselves to collaboration like what the three did in their act during the concert. When they were ask whom they can collaborate with in the Philippine entertainment scene, Crispy Crunch duo admit they watched MYX.

What you don't know about Crispy Crunch is not only they are frequent viewers of MYX but they also had crushes there. One is attracted to Nikki Gil and the other is to Iya Villania. Soomin and Crispy Crunch will soon have their own album under MCA Music. For more concert news and album launches, follow Mark_Templar on Twitter.

About Time OST

I love this movie and I love the list of songs I heard during the movie. I highly recommend this.

Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

OUT NOW!

What if every moment in life came with a second chance?

MCA Music (Universal Music Philippines) is proud to present the Original Soundtrack from the highly anticipated new film from writer and director Richard Curtis (‘Love Actually’, ‘Notting Hill’ and ‘Four Weddings & A Funeral’) –- ‘About Time’.

Starring Rachel McAdams and Bill Nighy, ‘About Time’ is an upcoming film about love with a little bit of time travel. At the age of 21, Tim (Bill Nighy) is told an incredible family secret by his father: all the men in his family have the ability to relive their past. He can revisit any moment in his life to try things differently until he gets them perfectly right. Tim decides to use his special gift to win the heart of the beautiful Mary (Rachel McAdams), but finds that the course of true love can be hilariously difficult – even with the ability to try, and try again. And even when everything seems to be going well, an unfortunate twist in time means that he may never meet Mary at all.

About Time’ pushes all the funny and emotional buttons you’d expect from a Richard Curtis script. And again, the music plays a major role, tapping into the emotional and nostalgic heart of the movie experience. The OST features 17 tracks from the likes of Amy Winehouse, Ellie Goulding, The Killers, Ron Sexsmith, The Cure, Ben Folds and Groove Armada.

Tracklisting:

1. The Luckiest (About Time Version) – Ben Folds

2. How Long Will I Love You – Jon Boden, Sam Sweeney & Ben Coleman

3. Mid Air – Paul Buchanan

4. At The River – Groove Armada

5. Friday I’m In Love – The Cure

6. Back To Black – Amy Winehouse

7. Gold In Them Hills – Ron Sexsmith

8. About Time Theme – Nick Laird-Clowes

9. Into My Arms – Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

10. Il Mondo – Jimmy Fontana

11. Golborne Road – Nick Laird-Clowes

12. Mr. Brightside – The Killers

13. Push The Button – Sugababes

GEORGE BENSON: INSPIRATION TOUR In Manila

Music fans will be captivated by the smooth, light sound of an exhilarating array of jazz, swing, bop, R&B and pop tunes from one of the world’s greatest jazz guitarists and singers when George Benson performs at a big show on September 5 (Thursday), at the Smart Araneta Coliseum with special guest Grammy award-winning R&B and jazz singer Patti Austin.

The musical event, to be produced by Ovation Productions, is part of Benson’s ongoing world tour to promote his latest album, Inspiration: A Tribute to Nat King Cole, released under MCA Music (Universal Music Philippines).

The recording is one of the most meaningful of Benson's career and is a testament to the spirit of Cole's timeless body of work. Benson's heartfelt renditions of some of Cole's greatest songs with Nelson Riddle arrangements and the 42-piece Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra are complemented by duets with Tony Award winner Idina Menzel and rising star Judith Hill, along with a special collaboration with multi-GRAMMY and Pulitzer Prize-winning trumpeter Wynton Marsalis. As a dream project for Benson, this album is a love letter to Cole and a tribute in gratitude for his deep musical inspiration.  It also demonstrates how uniquely suited Benson is to recreate and interpret these timeless treasures.

Highlights on the album include an adaptation of Nelson Riddle’s arrangement of “Just One of Those Things,” with a signature Benson vocal/guitar scat solo, and Benson’s reading of the original chart of “Nature Boy,” which he previously interpreted and made and a pop hit in the late 70’s.  The album also contains stunning duets with Idina Menzel on “When I Fall In Love,” and Judith Hill on “Too Young,” as well the incomparable trumpet work of Wynton Marsalis on a fresh new arrangement of “Unforgettable.” The album begins with a rare recording of “Little Georgie Benson” (age 8) singing “Mona Lisa” which stemmed from a singing contest Benson won and the award was the opportunity to record a song at a recording studio. Benson began singing Nat King Cole songs as a child in Pittsburgh and this recording not only shows his incredible range and musicality at the time but also the depth of admiration Benson has had for Cole from such a young age.
