July 24, 2013 --- Congratulatory messages are flooding in from around the world to mark the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's son, the third in line to the throne (From BBC UK). In line with the celebration, the biggest selling classical artist of the 21st century Hayley Westenra has teamed up with royal wedding composer Paul Mealor for an album of lullabies dedicated to Prince William’s and Kate Middleton’s newborn.

Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge personally chose Mealor’s music for their wedding back in 2011. Westenra, who has performed for the Prince of Wales, said: "Paul and I got together to work on a song called Sleep On in honour of William and Kate's new arrival as it's such a joyous occasion which we can all celebrate."

 

“Hushabye”, released under MCA Music (Universal Music Philippines), comprises a careful selection of music that will calm and soothe both children and adults alike. Westenra’s voice compliments the considered orchestration, with acoustic guitar, piano, flute and warm strings, creating an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. AVICII’S NEW SMASHING HIT SINGLE “WAKE ME UP”

Wala Pang Titulo by Ron Henley Album Launch

Promising hiphop artist and rapper Ron Henley launches his debut album, Wala Pang Titulo at Nation Bar & Grill in Quezon City last July 24, 2013. The album is composed of a six-track original songs all written by Mr. Henley himself.

First discovered in a noon time variety show by the late Master Rapper Francis M., he took Ron under his wing to give him a break in the music industry. I was given a dose of his music who performed with his girlfriend who also had a duet in one of the tracks. I find his songs will appeal to the younger audience as it also appeals to me.

 

Biglang Liko was one of his breakaway hits. The song is already two year old song. To master his craft, he does freestyle rapping sessions everyday. It is no wonder that Ron Henley is handled by the same management as Abra. The songs he wrote were his reflections from his obstacles and past experiences.

 

When asked about the cover album design, Ron says that it simply reflects his obstacles and how he overcome it. He also adds being an avid gamer also influenced the cover art. I got to ask him some questions in private.

We just had this year's State Of the Nation Address. If you were the president of the Phils., what laws you would like to implement?

I would legalize marijuana. Most are not aware that there are health benefits. It is legal in Latin America. Improve our economy and system like the traffic and cigarettes that are contradicting to what the lawmakers are doing.

 

The question was also asked to the late Francis M. and you both had the same answer. Do you have regular gigs?

For now, it is just mall tours to promote the album.

After four years of touring and developing "An Unforgettable Tribute to Nat King Cole," the legendary George Benson makes his most inspired album: Inspiration: A Tribute to Nat King Cole. The recording is one of the most meaningful of Benson's career and is a testament to the spirit of Cole's timeless body of work. Benson's heartfelt renditions of some of Cole's greatest songs with Nelson Riddle arrangements and the 42-piece Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra are complemented by duets with Tony Award winner Idina Menzel and rising star Judith Hill, along with a special collaboration with multi-GRAMMY and Pulitzer Prize-winning trumpeter Wynton Marsalis. As a dream project for Benson, this album is a love letter to Cole and a tribute in gratitude for his deep musical inspiration.  It also demonstrates how uniquely suited Benson is to recreate and interpret these timeless treasures.
